Feliz Ano
Happy New Year ... wet and wild around here. All through Christmas week, and on NYEve too !! Yacht Club Dance Party was somewhat protected by large tarps set up over the tables, there is no roof, but one on the dance floor, and that's where the most fun is anyway. Unfortunetly I am still nursing a sore baby toe .... dancing in barefeet, walking home through the mud ( in flip flops) at 4 am.
My new friends from Mexico City came with me to the Casino ! and M. and I danced a few Polkas. When the party was finally over, you didin't need a flashlight to get home !
No one can remember this much rain at this time of year. And so cold for everyone up north.
We have nothing to complain about in Yelapa, unless you're only here for 10 days and never see the sun and it's leaking over your bed, and you have no dry clothes, and you hurt your toe ! So many cuts and bruises and close calls and falls !! partly the rain and partly too much
action, people coming and going and going again. Not easy in the rain, in the dark, in high seas. Can't forget to go slow and lift your feet, always .... one false move and it's over.
Horray and Tada and Incredible ! I am a Residente Permenente in this Beautiful Country !!
Forever and ever, there is no expiry date !! I cried a little watching P. go up and get her's,
and a tear or two when it was my turn. I thanked everyone ... "machisma gracias por toda"
but had no pie to give ... I hope I can pull that off one day ...
This is one of the best things that ever happened to me, and I intend to make the very most of everything that lies ahead. Andale !!
Teaching ESL is amazing. I'm starting to get the hang of it, and as I get to know the kids it will be easier to develop the lessons plans. Most of them really enjoy it, Grade 1 and 2 my favorite so far, no surprise there. So many more girls than boys, which was the opposite situation from 2o years ago or more. I am trying to keep costs to a minimum, but every program needs a budget, and I have my feelers out for sponcers ....
The power was out on Boxing Day, but Boxing Day Tea, went along as planned, and much fun was had by all .... see photo ... Christmas Eve at Aprils, ( I have my Christmas Carol picked out for next year ), Christmas Feast with Russells # 1, an open house celebration at
The Pavillion at CasaIsabel, ( incredible ) . The weather dampened a few fiesta's for sure, not snow and cold, but rain around here anyway, can keep you " indoors " or at least under cover. Many nights the river was so high, the only way to cross was walk up to The Bridge,
then back down to the village, and too dark and wet and rough for a boat ride !!
Business suffered for sure. I hope the rest of the season can make up for it ...
I'm off and running, sun is shining, ocean blue and mountains clear ...
Next week will be full of photos from my new camera.
